Li Bo’s (李播) ''Tianwen daxiang fu'' (Rhapsody on the Great Celestial Images, 天文大象賦) similarly describes how “Fenmu stands apart, displaying its form, while Crying and Weeping call to one another in sorrow.” Through spatial relationships and personification, both works vividly evoke the funerary imagery of this celestial region.

			Traditional Chinese ritual placed considerable importance on burial and ancestral worship, expressing the ideal of “serving the dead as one served the living.” The prevalence of elaborate burial practices during the Han period further made tombs important spaces for perpetuating the social order of life and expressing status. The cluster of tombs, mausoleum buildings, and mourning figures around Xu and Wei can therefore be understood as a celestial projection of these ritual and cultural concerns.
