Orkaria is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Maa. It is the name of GJ 1214 in constellation Oph.

Etymology and History

Orkaria refers to the red ochre commonly donned by young Maa warriors during cultural ceremonies and alludes to the colour of GJ 1214.
