Almighzal is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Arabic. It is the name of the star η Cyg in constellation Cygnus.
Concordance, Etymology, History
The name is a modern English spelling variant.
The academic transliteration is al-Mighzal, al-Miġzal (المِغْزَل), in which the indigenous constellation is described: it is a wool spindle projected into the stars by the nomads of the Arabian Peninsula. This constellation is still in use today.
