mul4U.RI.RI (𒌌𒌋𒊑𒊑) only occurs in a set of astronomical omens at the end of MUL.APIN. Here, mul4U.RI.RI changes position amidst the stars and thus must be a planet, or a term for comet or falling star. Hunger and Steele 2019:[1] 127 provide indirect evidence for an identification of mul4U.RI.RI with Mercury. A foreign, non-Akkadian background for the name may be suspected.

Concordance, Etymology, History[2]

= A moving celestial luminary, possibly the planet Mercury, or a comet; the name occurs only in astrological texts [Gössmann[3] 165; Chadwick 1993[4], 171; Weidner 1923-24, 203-205].

Additional

Since <mul>U.RI.RI stands in [ACh Ištar[6], 33:8] among the predictions dedicated to Mercury, it is possible that this is the name of Mercury [MA[1] 134].

Kurtik (2022, u01) Gössmann (1950)
[Gössmann 1950, 165; Chadwick 1993, 171; Weidner 1923–24, 203–205].

[ACh Ištar, 33:8]; DIŠ mul4U.RI.RI ina MAŠ.QA 30 GUB […] [ACh Ištar, 29:10].
