Atik is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Arabic. It is the name of HIP 17448 (ο Per, HR 1131) in constellation Per.
Etymology and History
Applied in recent times (also to ζ Per), from an abbreviation of the ind-A name 'atiq al-thurayya, "the Collarbone of the Pleiades", for ο and ζ Per, after their location in the ind-A asterism here.
Mythology
IAU Working Group on Star Names
The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN on 2016/09/12.
