Iklil is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Arabic. It is the name of HIP 78104 (ρ Sco, HR 5928) in constellation Sco.

Etymology and History

The name derives from the Arabic lunar mansion "Iklil" (Arabic: الإكليل), "The ornamented headband" (or: diadem) composed of the 3 stars β1, δ and π Sco; here misapplied to ρ Sco.

Mythology

The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN on 2017/09/05.
