Porrima is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Latin. It is the name of HIP 61941 (γ Vir, HR 4825) in constellation Vir.
Etymology and History
The name of a Roman goddess, one of several mythological names mentioned in connection with the constellation Virgo. Applied as a star name in recent times.
