Tupi is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Tupi languages. It is the name of HIP 17096 (HD 23079) in constellation Ret.

Etymology and History

Tupi is the name of the most populous Indigenous People living on the eastern coast of South America, before the Portuguese arrived in the 16th century.
