Alzirr is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Arabic. It is the name of HIP 32362 (ξ Gem, HR 2484) in constellation Gem.
Etymology and History
Arabic الزِرّ , al-zirr, "the button". Allen (1899) attributes the name to Al Birūnī and it certainly does not have Greek roots as it is located at the foot of the eastern Twin, Pollux.
Mythology

The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN on 2017/06/30.
