Fafnir is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Old Norse. It is the name of HIP 90344 (42 Dra, HR 6945) in constellation Dra.
Etymology and History
Fafnir was a Norse mythological dwarf who turned into a dragon.
