Timir is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Bengali. It is the name of HIP 80687 (HD 148427) in constellation Oph.

Etymology and History

Timir means darkness in Bengali language, alluding to the star being far away in the darkness of space.
