Fawaris is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Arabic. It is the name of HIP 97165 (δ Cyg, HR 7528) in constellation Cyg.

Etymology and History

al-Fawāris (الفوارس), "the Riders", is an indigenous Arabic asterism consisting of at least four stars. WGSN applied the name of the group to one of its members that now preserves (pars pro toto) the Indigenous heritage.
