Alsciaukat is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Arabic. It is the name of HIP 41075 (31 Lyn, HR 3275) in constellation Lyn.

Etymology and History

Misspelled Arabic الشوكة aš-šawkat (al-shaukat), The Thorn. The name obviously has nothing to do with the figure of the lynx (or historically sometimes called "Tiger" or "Tigris") that was invented in Early Modern Times.

Mythology

IAU Working Group on Star Names

The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN on 2017/06/30.
