Equiano is an IAU name for an exoplanet. Its host star is Amadioha in the constellation of Canis Major. Suggested by the country of Nigeria, it follows the name theme Historical or mythological figures of Nigeria who stand for justice and human dignity.
Etymology and History
Equiano was a writer and abolitionist from Ihiala, Nigeria who fought injustice and the elimination of the slave trade.

The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN in the 20xx NameExoWorlds Campaign (NEWC).
