Koeia is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Taíno. It is the name of HIP 12961 (HIP 12961) in constellation Eri.
Etymology and History
Koeia was the word for star in the language of the Taíno Indigenous People of the Caribbean.
Mythology

The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN on 2019/12/17.
