Regor was a name from the space age attached to the bright star Gamma Velorum (gam02 Vel).

Etymology and History

Regor was one of three mysterious new names that started appearing around 1967 on American navigational star charts during the early years preparing for the NASA Apollo crewed lunar missions. It is backwards spelled "Roger", conciously ambiguous for the term "roger" in radio language to confirm that a message was received, and for the first name of one of the astronauts "R. ...".
