Wattle is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is English. It is the name of WASP-19 in constellation Vel.

Etymology and History

Wattle is a genus of approximately 1000 species of shrubs and trees. The Golden Wattle (Acacia pycnantha), whose colour alludes to the G-type star WASP-19, is native to Australia and is the official floral emblem of Australia.
