Baekdu is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Korean. It is the name of HIP 73136 (8 UMi, HD 133086) in constellation UMi.

Etymology and History

Baekdu is the highest mountain on the Korean peninsula, situated in North Korea, and symbolises the national spirit of Korea.
