Pluto is the famous former ninth planet, located in the distant Kuiper Belt.
Concordance, Etymology, History
Pluto was first discovered by an American astronomer named Clyde Tombaugh in 1930 at Lowell Observatory. The object was immediately designated as the ninth planet in our solar system.
In 2006, Pluto was redesignated as a dwarf planet by IAU.
Origin of Constellation
Ceres was named after the Roman god of the underworld.

IAU Nomenclature
The IAU considered Pluto as a dwarf planet in 2006 due to the redefinition of the "planet" category.
On August 24, 2006, the IAU added the requirement that a planet must "clear the neighborhood around its orbit." Because Pluto crosses and shares its orbit with thousands of other objects in the Kuiper Belt, it failed to meet this criterion and was officially classified as a dwarf planet.
