Painted brick "The Courier", Wei-Jin period, from Jiayuguan, Gansu. Gansu Provincial Museum. A mounted courier holding a qichuan pass, his mouth omitted to symbolize confidentiality. The earliest known image of China's postal relay system and the model for the China Post emblem.
