Naos is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Greek. It is the name of HIP 39429 (ζ Pup, HR 3165) in constellation Pup.

Etymology and History

Applied in recent times from the word ναῦς, Greek for the "ship", used in one Renaissance discussion as a name for the ancient constellation Argo (since divided by Lacaille into Puppis, Carina, and Vela).
