Sadalmelik is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Arabic. It is the name of HIP 109074 (α Aqr, HR 8414) in constellation Aqr.

Etymology and History

Applied in recent times from the Arabic name sa(d al-malik, for α and ο Aqr. A possible meaning for the name is "the Lucky (Stars) of the King", but the exact historical connections are unknown.
